How this works

Where the data comes from
  • Which cards: the cards currently listed on fut.gg's What's Hot, What's New and home pages (up to 50 per run). This is a basket of popular cards, not the whole market. Untradeable cards (SBC, objective, evolution) are removed.
  • Prices: fut.gg's lowest Buy-Now price for the console market (PlayStation and Xbox share one market). Futbin is used as a second source when it can be reached; it is often blocked, so most cards are single-source. The PC market is not tracked.
  • History: fut.gg's daily price history plus our own snapshots every 15 minutes, stored locally. The chart and all metrics use one source per card so that two sites' slightly different prices are never mixed into one line.
  • Refresh: every 15 minutes. Timestamps are UTC. If a source fails, the last good data stays up and is marked as such.
How the signals are computed

Every card gets a score (0–100) from weighted factors:

  • Trend — 3-day vs 7-day average of daily closing prices, and the average daily move over the last 30 days.
  • Peer value — price vs. the median of similar tracked cards (same card type, position group and rating band).
  • Volatility — how much the price swings day to day.
  • Card quality — rating, card type, league and price tier as a rough demand proxy.
  • Attention — position on fut.gg's What's Hot list (attention, not proven demand).
  • History — where a comparable card from the previous two seasons was priced at the same point in its life, plus the seasonal calendar (launch, TOTS, end of cycle). Only used when a good match exists.

Signals combine the score with a rise bias (a 0–100 lean toward up or down — not a probability) and a projected result after the 5% EA tax. Buy signals require a positive projected result after tax. Cards with fewer than 3 days of history can only be Watch or Hold.

Strong buy
Score ≥ 70, rise bias ≥ 60 and a projected gain of more than 3% after the 5% EA tax. Needs 3+ days of history.
Buy
Score ≥ 60, rise bias ≥ 55 and a positive projected gain after the 5% EA tax. Needs 3+ days of history.
Value buy
Only during TOTS: a card well below its recent peak that shows signs of stabilising, with a positive projected gain.
Watch
Promising but unconfirmed — either too little price history, or the projected move does not cover the 5% tax.
Hold
No clear edge in either direction.
Avoid
Weak score or indicators leaning down — not a good moment to buy.
Sell
Very weak score or a strong downward lean — if you own it, consider selling.
What the numbers mean
  • 24h / 7d / 30d — change vs. the price closest to that many hours/days earlier. Left empty (—) when no price exists near that time, rather than stretched over a shorter period. Hover the 24h value to see the exact span.
  • Market index — each day moves by the median daily change of the tracked cards (equal weight, chained). It describes this basket only.
  • Break-even — the lowest sale price that recovers the buy price after EA's 5% tax: buy ÷ 0.95, rounded up to a valid price step.
  • Buy range — between the 7-day low and the 7-day median (capped at the current price). Sell range — from break-even to the model's target.
  • Data confidence — Low / Medium / High from the amount of history, cross-source agreement and historical match quality. It says how solid the inputs are, not how likely a profit is.
Limitations
  • Lowest Buy-Now is not the price cards actually sell for, and there is no sales-volume data — liquidity is not measured.
  • The weights and thresholds are hand-tuned heuristics. They have not been back-tested and can be wrong for long stretches.
  • Content drops, SBCs and promos move prices within minutes; a 15-minute refresh will miss fast moves.
  • Seasonal dates for the current game (e.g. TOTS) are estimates until confirmed.
  • Nothing here is financial advice. Check the live price in the game before you buy or sell.
